Director of News Content, KUNC

[/fusion_text][fusion_text]

Michael de Yoanna is the director of news content for KUNC public radio in Colorado. He got his start in journalism at the turn of the 21stcentury as a newspaper reporter covering fires, disease outbreaks and political campaigns. He has worked as an investigative producer for Denver’s 7News and freelanced for CBS’s “48 Hours Mystery,” “60 Minutes,” Salon, 5280 magazine and even directed his own documentary film. In 2011, Michael turned to public radio, collaborating with KUNC on a theme in his reporting for more than a decade — how injured troops are treated by the military after returning home from war. He has won more than a dozen awards for investigations and features reporting, including a national Edward R. Murrow (KUNC) and, while reporting for Colorado Public Radio, the broadcast equivalent of a Pulitzer Prize — the Columbia-duPont award — for “Missed Treatment,” shared with NPR Investigative Correspondent Danny Zwerdling.
