If you allow others to post comments, images or other material on your station’s website, you may need to renew your Designation of Copyright Agent online with the Copyright Office. To check the Copyright Office database to confirm whether or not your designation is duly registered, visit here.
Registration is required in order to qualify for the safe harbor under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which protects qualifying providers from claims of third party copyright infringement if they timely register and follow certain steps upon receiving notice of a claimed infringement.
