Holding a national conference dedicated to celebrating community radio just 24 hours before the United States House of Representatives voted to defund Public Media was not on my Bingo card for this year. Talk about whiplash. One moment our team is basking in the warmth of hundreds of smiles from hard-working community radio leaders across the nation and the next moment we are situation room-style preparing for the unpreparable.
Now, as we are in this trough between the House and Senate votes, I’m doing my best to keep panic at bay, and to let my mind drift back to those joyful conference smiles. The NFCB Conference team is ever grateful to all who attended and we can’t wait to see everyone again!
