Many stations have a complicated relationship with archiving. For older recordings especially, the clock may be ticking.

The Library of Congress and public media organization WGBH launched the American Archive of Public Broadcasting to preserve public television and radio programs over the last 60 years. The nationwide initiative highlights a question many community radio stations ask: how is our station collecting our historic recordings?

AAPB is seeking involvement of community radio to contribute its own historic recordings to the collection. However, NFCB understands many barriers may prevent participation.

What kind of support does your station need with developing preservation policies and practices? What are the barriers to your archiving work? Contact NFCB and let us know.
