With the end of 2017 upon us, many Americans are taking stock of the stories and issues that shaped our year.

The close of the year is also when you should remember community radio.

Some of the biggest news you may have heard this year include midterm elections, the first year of the Trump Administration, the 50th anniversary of the Communications Act, the national debates over National Football League players kneeling during the national anthem, the fight over the Affordable Care Act, Brexit, mass shootings in several states, a bombing in Manchester and the deaths of Tom Petty, Fats Domino, Glen Campbell, Prodigy, Gregg Allman, Chester Bennington, Chris Cornell and Butch Trucks.

As we think about the stories that touched us this year, community radio shaped much of our understanding of our world.

Stations in your area need support now more than ever. Please consider a year-end donation today.

If you’re with a station, please remember your station can join NFCB anytime.
