Building A Leadership Culture Among Volunteer Staff: Best Practices for Recruiting & Managing Volunteers Webinar

Most community media organizations need and encourage the participation of volunteer labor. But how does a station determine what they need, and where to look for help? Volunteers are staff, donating their time and skills for free. But as volunteer staff, they need to be oriented to the workplace like any other worker, informed of their rights and responsibilities, and expectations, and in return, made to feel welcome and appreciated. In this webinar, we’ll look at practical steps and tools to help you build your volunteer program at your media organization.

Speakers: Jennifer Kiser, assistant director of independent media at the University of California Santa Barbara/KCSB, and Jessica Evett, general manager at Radio Boise.
