NFCB’s September webinar covers the ins and outs of volunteer management.

Most community media organizations need and encourage the participation of volunteer labor. But how does a station determine what they need, and where to look for help? Volunteers are staff, donating their time and skills for free. But as volunteer staff, they need to be oriented to the workplace like any other worker, informed of their rights and responsibilities, and expectations, and in return, made to feel welcome and appreciated. In this webinar, we’ll look at practical steps and tools to help you build your volunteer program at your media organization.

Take insights from two gifted community radio leaders. Jennifer Kiser is assistant director of independent media at the University of California Santa Barbara, past NFCB conference moderator and community media veteran. Jessica Evett is general manager at Radio Boise, past NFCB conference presenter and community radio veteran in her own right. They’ll offer you many actionable ideas and intelligence gleaned from years of working with the passionate volunteers in our space. You are sure to pick up plenty of knowledge.

This webinar is available to NFCB member stations, which have received communications on registration. If you did not get yours, contact us. If you are not with a member station, you can join now.
