Our democracy is at stake! In all my 45 years in and around community radio, now is the most important time for us to amplify diverse voices. As many sectors in our communities are bombarded with misinformation and attacks from other media, our role as truth tellers of cultures and information is more important than ever.
I am running for my second, and last, term on the NFCB board. Being a community organizer and having raised over $20 million at KRAB-FM, Pacifica Radio, KVRU-LP, other community media and BIPOC nonprofits, I am committed to do everything I can to ensure that stations – bilingual, college, HBCU, LPFM, rural and urban – have the resilience to tell the stories that support a thriving democracy.
