I just returned from Washington where I had a chance to meet with the board of Native Public Media. Its a very impressive bunch. They are mobilized around policy and training Native journalists among other things. The National Congress of the American Indian was happening in the city so NPM was there for that. Here is more:
There are plenty of things I need to learn but this much I know for sure: when we work together to make our voices heard as community based media, serving dispersed populations, rural areas and communities of color we are much stronger than trying to stand alone. What good is a free press if a full spectrum of voices are not heard?
