A Colorado community radio station is pairing live events and podcasting for fresh sounds.
KSJD in Cortez, Colo. launched the Raven Narratives, a series of live storytelling events. The rules are straightforward:
- Stories are told, not read. No notes are allowed on stage.
- Stories should be true, not fiction.
- Tell only one story
- The story should have a beginning, middle and end.
- The story fits within the time limit of 8-10 minutes.
- The story should relate meaningfully to the theme.
- No stand-up routines, rants or essays.
- No explicit endorsements of an organization or individual.
The community radio station has, in turn, made recordings of the events into a killer podcast. Hear for yourself at Soundcloud, Stitcher or iTunes. It’s an outstanding example of what community radio stations can do.
