About WDNA

WDNA 88.9FM is a non-profit, public radio station broadcasting to the residents of Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties.  WDNA also delivers programming to national and international audiences via internet audio live streaming through its website, WDNA.org, various streaming platforms, and via the WDNA mobile application.

The radio format is locally produced Jazz, Latin Jazz, Blues, Afro Caribbean Jazz, and World Music programs, BBC News, plus conversations on health and the arts.  Local programming is complemented by quality national programs such as Jazz Night in America, AfroPop Worldwide, The Cool Jazz Countdown, and Jazz Happening Now.

WDNA goes beyond broadcasting to engage the community with various series of live events in its WDNA Jazz Gallery. The gallery is an intimate venue for concerts by outstanding local, national and international artists; performances by young artists; art exhibits; workshops and clinics for young musicians; live radio concert broadcasts; and much more. Jazz Gallery events are video live streamed, and video and audio recorded. WDNA has amassed a video archive of over 700 live events and performance broadcasts in the WDNA Jazz Gallery.

 

Job Summary

The Membership Coordinator will be responsible for executing all functions necessary to effectively maintain and expand WDNA’s membership base.  In addition to these responsibilities, the Membership Coordinator will work with the General Manager and staff to create and implement a fundraising plan and strategy TWICE per year that will meet our goal of increased revenue from membership and pledge drives.

The right candidate will have exceptional organizational and people skills, a strong work ethic, team player, multi-tasker, professional, not afraid to be on-air, efficient, and supportive of all staff.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee membership acquisition and retention including pledge drives, email campaigns, digital platform campaigns, direct mail, and other strategies to grow membership and revenue
  • Develop and implement a membership calendar of appeals and tracking methods to assess results
  • Responsible for weekly donor acknowledgements, monthly renewals, and year-end tax letters
  • Fulfill all membership premiums and mailings in a timely manner
  • Acquiring and coordinating volunteers to assist during pledge drives and other events such as the Book Fair
  • Acquiring premiums, trades, and other items necessary for pledge drives
  • Coordinating and increasing revenues from the vehicle donation program
  • Preparing and submitting membership related copy/creative for broadcast scheduling
  • Act as the primary point of contact for member needs and concerns, including in-person, phone, email and voicemail management and interaction, thank you gift program, and pledge drive fulfillments
  • Expert knowledge of social media
  • Submit written reports after each pledge drive
  • Recruit and manage interns and volunteers to assist with membership, fundraising, and station events
  • Create weekly e-newsletter
  • Assist with marketing efforts, including direct mail, digital marketing, social media coordination, and identifying marketing trends and opportunities for innovation
  • Prepare and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan to reach new and current development goals & objectives
  • Coordinate special fundraising events
  • Seek ongoing enrichment of relationships through networking, outreach to local businesses, civic engagement, involvement with the arts and education communities, and through membership organizations

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Experience with on-air fundraisers, scripts, and production
  • Ability to maintain positive, professional, and friendly relationships with community members and partners
  • Self-motivated team player
  • Takes ownership of responsibilities
  • Education or experience in marketing, communications, business, PR, event management
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new development and radio specific programs as required
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets and presentations
  • Prioritize assignments and work independently on complex communication tasks
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines
  • A high degree of confidentiality
