Matt Murphy has been the General Manager of WERU Community Radio for the past 24 years. Prior to that he served as a behind-the-scenes volunteer, DJ, Board member, and paid staff member. Matt is passionate about recruiting and training new volunteers, and believes that great programming starts with people feeling welcomed and empowered throughout the entire volunteer onboarding process.
In addition to his work at WERU, Matt is the board president of the New Surry Theatre & Performing Arts School (local community theater company) and a board member of the Maine Celtic Celebration (traditional music festival). Originally from Massachusetts, he has lived in Maine for 40 years.
