Lackisha Freeman has served as the general manager of WNCU-FM in Durham, NC a mainstream jazz and news station licensed by North Carolina Central University since 2010.  She has worked in the public radio industry for 19 years.  She obtained both her B.A. and J.D. from North Carolina Central University.   Freeman currently serves on the board of Eastern Region Public Media and also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.  She has also served on the advisory board for the African American Public Radio Project, the grant review panel for National Endowment of the Arts, the board of National Federations for Community Broadcasters and NC Community Shares.  She resides in Raleigh, North Carolina with her husband, William and two children: Aiden and Madison.
