NFCB’s 40th Annual Community Media Conference takes place in Denver, Colorado. This year’s theme is “We’re Better Together”, because we can accomplish so much more when we focus on the things that unify us. This conference will demonstrate that power and you should be a part of it.
This year’s conference will feature pre-conference summits and intensives followed by two full days of keynotes, plenaries and breakout sessions. The focus is on the big-picture issues facing community media, then drilling down to strategies and tactics that you can take home and put to work. We’ll wrap up with interactive sessions designed to show you how to use experiential gatherings to cultivate and engage stakeholders.
We’re proud to announce that our opening Keynote Speaker is Malkia Cyril, founder and Executive Director of the Center for Media Justice and co-founder of the Media Action Grassroots Network – a national network of 175 organizations working to ensure media access, rights and representation for marginalized communities.. Malkia grew up believing that “everyone deserves a public voice” and she advances that belief through her work as a prolific writer and public speaker.
There’s much more – and you can check out all the details on our conference web page. You will find more information about the conference, the schedule at a glance, details about the summits and intensives and everything you need to get registered. You can even make your hotel reservations on the same page.
We’ve kept your budgets in mind. Denver is centrally located and a hub for several major airports. The Denver Light Rail System is going online next month and you will be able to check your bags from your airport all the way through to Union Station in Downtown Denver, then it’s just a short ride on the 16th Street Mall streetcar to our conference hotel – The Embassy Suites by Hilton. This hotel features all-suite rooms with separate bedroom / living room / kitchenette spaces. All rooms have a pull-out bed in the living room, so it’s easy to share and keep your conference costs low.
Plan now to join us in Denver June 8-11 for the 40th Annual NFCB Community Media Conference, because we’re better together!
