John Hess
[/fusion_text][fusion_text][/fusion_text][fusion_text]Basing his consulting practice out of Boise, Idaho, John Hess is a free-lance media consultant focusing on public media organizations to help them realize their full public service potential. Mr. Hess specializes in helping employees do their best work and helping public media boards of directors provide the very best in public service to their communities.
Hess is the President of the University Station Alliance, a non-profit organization representing 80 public radio stations at University licensed public media organizations across the country.
Mr. Hess is the past President of Western States Public Radio (WSPR) an organization that represents 40 public media organizations throughout the Rocky Mountain and Pacific Northwest region. Hess was part of the team that developed the PRRC (Public Radio Regional Conference) a national conference that brings together public radio and television managers from across the country. The PRRC is in its’ sixth year of operation.
Prior to 2016, Mr. Hess served as the General Manager/Executive Director, for Boise State Public Radio, from 2005-2015. Boise State Public Radio is a nineteen-station radio network serving Southwest Idaho, Eastern Oregon and Northern Nevada.
From 2000-2005, Mr. Hess was the Director of Broadcasting for stations KUNI/KHKE licensed to the University of Northern Iowa, managing a network of six full service stations serving Eastern and Central Iowa.
Hess is a 30 year veteran of the media industry, working in television, radio and newspapers throughout his career.
