Underwriting spots are critical to many community radio stations. However, how much is too much?

Many community radio stations limit their underwriting announcements to a few seconds. It is generally held that, the longer the underwriting acknowledgement, the more likely it is to be considered promotional.

Stations must adhere to “identification-only” rules, but how long is too long for underwriting?

This Solution Center article (login required) explores the duration and frequency of radio underwriting, and what is permissible.

To access these materials, you must be an NFCB member station with a login to the Solution Center. If you are with a member station and need help, please contact us now for assistance.

If your community radio station is not yet a member of NFCB, you can join here.
