Underwriting spots are critical to many community radio stations. However, how much is too much?

Many community radio stations limit their underwriting announcements to a few seconds. It is generally held that, the longer the underwriting acknowledgement, the more likely it is to be considered promotional.

Stations must adhere to “identification-only” rules, but how long is too long for underwriting?
