How can community radio station find grants that are relevant to them?

Individual giving to nonprofits fell below 70 percent for the first time in 2018, and dependence on fewer donors giving more continues. More community media organizations are turning to grants and other sources of financial support. The difficulty for community radio is finding grants that fit particular needs.

Some grants are challenging to scale to the needs of a community station. Reporting obligations can at times be a burden in smaller outlets. In addition, funders tend to invest for short windows of time and expect deliverables by the end. For stations operating in rural areas, results can at points take longer to materialize.

NFCB provides a regular roundup of grants available to community radio. Member stations have opportunities to connect with funders relevant to their needs. If your station is not yet a member, you can join now.
