Before that she was an independent producer and educator.
She produced a series of place-based storytelling projects in collaboration with small towns. The Other AK is an experiment in narrative tourism that celebrates the local culture of Alaska beyond cliches. Portland Brick is a public art project building public memory.
Elise studied radio at the Salt Institute for Documentary Study. She got her start in radio ten years ago when she accidentally moved to Alaska and non-accidentally brought StoryCorps to her small town in Alaska. Elise wishes there were a specific verb for laugh/crying.
