NFCB Board Member and community radio advocate Sharon Maeda has created these PSA samples that can be adapted for your station. Use these sample PSAs freely. There are hundreds and hundreds of relevant quotes you can find on the internet, but the best quotes will come from the wise voices of your own community.

As a leading suffragist who fought for the right of women to vote, Susan B. Anthony said it in a few words: “Someone struggled for your right to vote. Use it.” It took half a century to for the states to grant women the right to vote and it wasn’t until 1920 that the 19th Amendment was added to the US Constitution. As our Constitution is currently being ignored and tampered with, we owe it to our mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters, and all the women in our lives to vote November 5th. That’s the least we can do.

President Abraham Lincoln once said “the ballot is stronger than the bullet.”  It is every citizen’s responsibility to register and participate in elections from local candidates and ballot initiatives to the presidential elections. (Locality) registration deadline is: (date). You can register online at: (website) or in person at (address).

Late night comedy host, Steven Colbert said “Can’t wait for…when I get to exercise my patriotic duty as an American: Complaining about how long it’s taking to vote.”

It’s actually no joke, and if you don’t vote, you can’t complain about the officials or legislation you get. Take the high road and be a part of advancing your community. VOTE!

Superstar and newly minted country singer, Beyoncé said: “Your voices are being heard and you’re proving to our ancestors that their struggles were not in vain. Now we have one more thing we need to do to walk in our true power, and that is to vote.”

Dr. King often said “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” He gave his life for things that matter. All you have to do is register to vote, then learn about candidates and issues all up and down the ballot. VOTE NOVEMBER 5th!

Billionaire superstar, Taylor Swift weighs in on voting: “t’s not enough to just want change, you have to go and make change by voting.” All of us lament that the government does or doesn’t implement policies we want. But, we have nothing to complain about if we don’t make our voices heard. VOTE NOVEMBER 5th.

President Roosevelt once said “Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting.” Keep the right to vote. Register now. Vote on November 5th.

According to actress American Ferrara “It isn’t about who is the majority in Congress. It’s about, are people educated and enfranchised and resourced enough to participate in the government that purports to be of the people, by the people, for the people? We’re missing the people part—and not because people don’t care, but because we’re not doing our job as a country, as a culture, to make democracy work.” Let’s do our job by being informed and voting all up and down the ballot.

Oprah Winfrey said, “Casting a ballot isn’t just something you do for yourself – it’s for our collective future. All of us, Democrats, Republicans, Independents or nonvoters want our communities to thrive. So, let’s do something for ourselves.” Register to vote today, and vote on November 5th.

Pearl Jam front man, Eddie Vedder raises his voice: “Your voice will be heard. And speaking as a bit of a singer myself, I know that can be a pretty good feeling.” We can all feel good about ourselves if we register to vote and show up on November 5th.
