Program Description:
“Cruisin’ The Decades” is a 100-year journey through recorded popular music history. It is like an audio time capsule, playing one song per decade beginning in 1920 and running through the 2020’s. We cover all styles and genres: jazz, blues, folk, standards/songbook, swing, R&B, early rock & roll, country, psychedelic, modern rock, punk, new wave, alternative.
One song per decade is played, beginning in the 1910’s, 1920’s, 1930’s, and so forth up to 2010’s, and 2020’s. In one hour each week, a full century of music is presented, from a public radio/AAA/album rock/free form music presentation. Hosted by Brad Savage from WAPS/91.3 The Summit in Akron, OH. The show is currently heard on shortwave radio in North America and Europe, plus 17 AM/FM/public/LPFM/noncomm outlets.
The show is about five main pillars:
1) Music – through the years, recording technology, influences
2) Record collecting – music appreciation of all genres
3) Radio – affinity for radio broadcasting, airwaves and listening over-the-air
4) Community – like-minded people who love music
5) Geography – sense of place, across vast listening distances
“Cruisin’ The Decades” is delivered by Dropbox link, with new episodes posted each Wednesday.
