In late March I paid a visit to Flo Hernandez Ramos, a stalwart community radio champion, former General Manager of KUVO in Denver, and long time Executive Director of the Latino Public Radio Consortium (LPRC). Flo and I caught up about the work of the Latino stations served by LPRC. We talked about the upcoming NFCB conference in Reston where LPRC will host its annual summit. After that, we headed out to a production called “Dreaming Sin Fronteras” ( dreaming without borders) at North High School in Denver. Stories from “Dreamers” who had testified in front of Congress were excerpted in this moving piece on immigration and the effects of deportations on Latino families in the U.S.
I am so proud that NFCB plays a role in convening the diverse tapestry of community radio voices across our country. Together we are stronger.
