NFCB has worked with dozens of Boards at Community Radio stations in the past few years. Because each station’s needs are slightly different, we have accumulated a large body of knowledge and experience that can help Boards operate more productively and function at the highest possible level.
We can also facilitate Board-Staff planning retreats and meetings to help you set short and/or long range goals.
We design each training/workshop in consultation with the station Manager and/or Board President to meet your particular needs. The cost depends on the length of the training and how much material must be created for your specific needs. Our daily rate is $325 for Participant members; $550 of Associates; $1,250 for non-members, plus expenses. Trainings and workshops can be 1 evening (2-3 hours), 1 day (6-8 hours), or longer, depending on your needs.
Elements of Board Trainings and Workshops
1) Review of responsibilities and structure of the Board and of the Staff and the appropriate role of each group
2) Evaluation of how well the Board is currently functioning
3) Discussion of current challenges facing community radio stations
4) Interviews with Board and/or Staff to uncover issues at the station (what is going right as well)
5) Facilitate setting goals for the next year
6) Activities customized to your situation
