NFCB’S COMMUNITY MEDIA CONFERENCE RETURNS
When?
Wednesday-Friday
June 28-30, 2023
Where?
Embassy Suites Downtown Convention Center
Denver, Colorado
Registration for the Conference begins March 13!
The NFCB Community Radio Conference has been our signature event for over four decades. Our team is thrilled to bring it back to an in-person event after three years of virtual conferences. The fact remains that the pandemic continues to ebb and flow in the country and around the world and this conference may be impacted by a future variant or other complication. We are committed to full transparency and proactive communication with any attendees should we need to make alterations to the conference due to the pandemic. We do not expect to have to do that but we understand that there is no way to guarantee that.

Get Ready, Stay Ready – Public Safety
Is your station prepared for emergencies? Preparing for emergencies begins well before disaster strikes. Learn what you need to know to keep your station on the air and serving the public during natural disasters and other emergencies. This session will go through the vital steps that every station needs to take to operate in an emergency, how to program through it, what equipment is needed, planning for site resiliency, and case studies from stations that learned from their own experiences.
Mastering On-Air Sound
When’s the last time you evaluated the overall sound of the station? From on-air voices to the interstitials between programs, it’s all telling a story. In this workshop, you’ll learn everything you need to know to captivate audiences with on-air sound that keeps them coming back for more.
Learn vocal techniques, equipment tips, how to harness the music and voices of your community, and how to go from being a good host to becoming a beloved host. You’ll leave this comprehensive workshop fired up and armed with new tools to elevate your station’s on-air sound and tell a great story.
Revving Up Revenue
Funding the mission – every station’s greatest need and often the greatest challenge. But never fear! In this session, industry leaders share the do’s and don’ts of fundraising, how to strategically diversify fundraising for sustainability, and how collaboration can take your fundraising to the next level.
This session will include a collaborative revenue stream assessment where you’ll share advice and support. Presenters will reach out to your station beforehand to customize the intensive to the group’s needs.
Legal Essentials for Community Radio Stations
Someone once said, “You can’t live with the FCC – and you can’t live without them.”
The FCC plays a vital legal role in the life (and potential success) of every noncommercial radio station. Whether you are you a public radio newcomer, or simply looking for a concise refresher course, this is the intensive for you!
Join veteran Washington, DC attorney Ernie Sanchez in this lively and engaging overview of how to successfully live and prosper with the help of the FCC.
Bring your legal questions and your problems. Parts of the presentation will be in lecture form, but there will be plenty of time for Q & A. You will leave this session challenged, stimulated and with lots of information and answers.
